Sending Letters for July

Today the plan is to go to the post office and mail out my package of July letters. The bubble mailer I bought yesterday at the UPS store is way too big.  So I folded it in half and used the sticky strip to fasten it together, but I still need to get some packaging tape to really seal it down.

I really need some tape!

Picture of the letter:

I used the left side only so that the translator can write on the right side of the letter.  I know the ink is faded in some parts, this is just my copy of the letters (I keep copies in my binder), the actual letter in the mailer looks amazing.

And here is a picture of some of the goodies I included in the package.  I printed out some coloring sheets and got a cute greeting card of a teddy bear and I colored the envelope.

I am not an artist and my drawing abilities are limited to hearts, flowers, trees and smiley faces.  I might have made a sun.

And that is the package for my compassion children for July.  :)

Special Mail Days

So today I am in the middle of getting my letters ready to be sent out for July, and I was surprised and happy to find a letter from my compassion child Amanda.

She writes:
Dear sponsor Joanna,
I greet you in the peace of the Lord Jesus and I wish you are fine.  I thank you for the help you offer me and for accepting to be my sponsor, I am so glad because you will be a great help and blessing for me and I will be able to share lots of things with you.  I want to tell you that my favorite food is the pique macho and I like to keep the house in order.  I also like to help my mother to cook and I like to go to the park with my sister.  My favorite color is pink.  I thank you so much and I wish God bless you and take care of you.

With love,
Amanda

She made a very beautiful picture with lots of detail of a house, mountains, sun, clouds, and a girl.

I love my compassion children.

Special Mail Days

I received a letter from my compassion child Enock today.

His father wrote for him:

Dear sponsor Joanna,
Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ.  He and his family members thanks you for agreeing to help him to so that he can have a bright future.  He likes to pray and to play football.  He concludes wishing you peace of God.

He made a picture of a bike and a flower.  They were very nice pictures.

My First Child Letter

Oh dear.

I can't believe I forgot!  I was telling everyone, but I forgot to post about my very first child letter!

I received a letter from my compassion child Jordan on Saturday June 2, 2012.

He writes:

Dear sponsors Joanna,
May our Lord Jesus Christ bless you and your family!  My name is Jordan.  I am happy and thankful to God that you chose me.  I am a cheerful boy.  I like riding bike with my friends and playing soccer.  I have a toy named Gufi.  I am 7 years old.  I study in 2nd grade of primary school.  I attend the Compassion Project and to Sunday school.  The place where I live is beautiful and it is surrounded by abundant vegetation.  What do you like to do during the free time?  I send you a drawing and hope you like it.  Please pray for me, my family and the Sunday school children.  I say bye with a hug.  I love you so much.

I about cried when I read this, he is such a sweet boy!  He writes so well for a 7 year old.  I looked on the back and he made a picture!  It's a house, truck, tree, sun, clouds, and some birds.

I sent him a letter already with some pictures of our trip to Bordine's

Is there such a thing of writing too much to a sponsor child?  Now there's a question.

I'm editing, since I received another first child letter from my compassion child Purnima today!

I was so happy when I checked the mail, after mowing the lawn (sneezing like crazy as usual).

She is 4, so her teacher wrote:

Dear sponsor,
Greetings and love from Purnima.  She is well with her family.  How are you?  She give thanks for your sponsoring.  She comes at project regularly, study, play, eat nutrious food and learn Jesus song, story, Bible verse.  She likes the song, "Mother bought a Bible for me".  She wants to know about you.  She loves and prays for you.

She made a pretty flower and wrote some ABC's.  She wants to become a doctor!!  I love these kids.  They are so wonderful.

Journey of Sponsor/Child Letter

Very interesting and informative video about a child's letter going to their sponsor.

I am amazed by the process.  So many letters!!  Such a great thing to help and have a special relationship with a child in another country.  The letters really make the difference.

I'm A Nerd

Yup.  It's true.

I went to Walmart.  I was looking through the office section.  I've been looking at a couple different places, and Walmart is the cheapest place.

I bought a binder, some sheet protectors and some dividers.  I printed out a cover page, and some divider pages and etc.

I am a nerd.

Very nerdy.

The cover of my binder.  It looks so nice!

I have my letters, the general information Compassion International sent out to me when I first sponsored my compassion kids inside the binder.

I am eagerly waiting for my VERY first letter.  I am still deciding if I'm going to make a separate section for the letters I receive or just stick them with the letters I wrote.

Very excited, and trying to be patient!!!

Letter writing

I'm sitting at my desk looking at my word document.  What to write?  I have already sent two letters to this child.  I don't want him to EVER feel alone, but at the same time, I don't want to overwhelm him with so many letters.

Also, I'm so uncomfortable right now.  I AM SO HOT.  Could this be early menopause?  I'm 31 years old and having hot flashes.  *insert sad face*

And another thought, I'm such a nerd.  I have word documents for everything.  Each child has their own documents, with pictures and other information.  One word document is the one I use for typing out letters, one word document I use keeping track when I sent payments and gifts, and when there's a withdrawal in my bank account.

*sigh*  Back to my typing.
